Local & International Media Promotional Campaigns | |
Media Relations:The Sri Lanka Tourism Promotional Bureau together with the tourism industry regularly holds varied media campaigns to educate the overseas and local public on tourism developments. In 2007 and 2008 the SLTPB engaged in the following promotional programmes. Press Conference – “New Vision Plan” PR with Media:A media brief was organized on 19th April 2007 in New Delhi to release the Indian Market Plan. This media brief was chaired by His Excellency C.R. Jayasinghe, Sri Lankan High Commissioner in India, Mr. Dileep Mudadeniya, Addl. Director General SLTPB, and Mr. Sharuka Wickrama Adittiya, Area Manager SriLankan Airlines. FAM TripsD. B. Production: Star plus A six member crew travelled to Sri Lanka from the 16th - 21st June 2007 for the recording of a religious travel television production. The production highlights the cultural and the traditional ties between India and Sri Lanka. Grand Kandy Esala Perehera Festival The SLTB hosted journalists from IT Travel plus (New Delhi), DNA, Udaya TV (Bangalore) and a freelance journalist of New Delhi. The group travelled to Sri Lanka and visited the Temple of the Tooth Relic in Kandy, Sigiriya[Wiki], Polonnaruwa[Wiki], the Spice Garden, Royal Botanical Gardens, Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage, the Sita Amman Temple & the golf course and also toured the cities of Colombo[Wiki] and Negombo[Wiki]. World Tourism Day on 27th September The SLTB hosted journalists from the IT Plus, Asian Age, The Telegraph, The Week, from New Delhi in Sri Lanka. MICE Road ShowsThe Sri Lanka Convention Bureau along with Sri Lankan Airlines & hospitality partner Hotel Taj Samudra and with the MICE industry partners of Sri Lanka organised marketing and sales missions to the southern Indian cities of Bangalore & Hyderabad. The objective was to position Sri Lanka as the next MICE getaway for the Indian corporate. Sri Lanka ‘Calling Newsletters’In order that the travel trade and media are up to date on all promotional events, the Sri Lanka Tourist Board regularly publishes press releases and a newsletter named “Sri Lanka Calling”.
